Breakaway Capital is an investment firm founded by Andres Joven to identify, acquire, and personally operate one established private company. We are not a traditional private equity fund managing a portfolio. Our full time, energy, and capital are dedicated to a single business.

We partner with owners who have built something worth preserving and want confidence that their company, employees, and customers will be in capable hands. Every transition is different, and we structure each one around the owner's priorities, from deal terms to their role after closing.

Who we are

Andres Joven

Founder & Managing Partner

Andres grew up in a family of entrepreneurs and has spent his career building and scaling businesses across three countries. At 22, he left university to launch the first international office of Grupo Arca, a B2B construction materials retailer, in Miami, hiring the team, building operations from zero, and exceeding $8M in first-year sales. He then opened the company's first European office in Madrid, closing landmark projects including hotels and airport terminals.

He later joined Zepz, a global fintech leader, where he led expansion across LatAm markets in the US, built risk frameworks, established playbooks, and owned markets from birth to scale.

Andres holds an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management, where he was a Dean's Fellow with certificates in Sustainability and Entrepreneurship & Innovation, and a dual degree in Engineering and Finance from ITAM. He has family roots spanning generations in Texas and previously built and operated in Florida. Outside of work, he is a serious long-distance road cyclist, a sport where races are won by the rider who stays disciplined and breaks away at exactly the right moment. The name of the fund is not an accident.
